Part 1 – Do:
So as a playful case study we are going to ask you, “What inspires you to be a creative entrepreneur? Try this out for yourself. Answer the question using these six points above and see how that defines who you are and why you do what you do. Then see if it gives you insight on the how, what, where and when you can make it happen! Next, see if there is anything you might be missing or doing too much or not enough of; for example making sustainable income or the opposite, not enough freedom and self-expression.
Part 2 – Learn:
Here are some key points we gathered, during our brainstorming session pre diydays event [NYC 2013, http://diydays.com] reinforcing our discoveries for story telling, by
using this above technique:
- Design thinking
- Storytelling (brand, product, idea, media)
- Social anthropology (research & analytics)
- Freedom of expression + accessibility (autonomy) + self actualization
- Listening, a form of communication
- Sustainability solutions
- Uncertainty
- Monetization / ROI
- To inform people, what is creative leadership? Change the dialogue!
- Confidence + Vulnerable + Practicality = ? What is the new model? (Keywords:
- intention, purposeful play, expressive play, and immersive play)
- New models of social economy / misfits / disruption
- Social media / Community reach
- Transmedia? / Sustainable cultural media connections that evolves with your idea and audience: purposeful play / games / ARG’s /ubiquitous devices traditional media
- World Peace? What does that REALLY mean?
Part 3 – Share:
To take this process a step further we can create a broader format in collaboration and discovery by bringing people from around the world together for a few days
under one roof in three cities (like NY, Berlin, Amsterdam). These are the Methods, Processes and Techniques that are utilized at the diydays performances and workshops:

Ok NOW let’s all ask this question? How can media and social communication contribute to building a better future for all of us?
To REALLY be disruptive you have to take the leap and be a corporate misfit when you looking to be a successful creative entrepreneur! Thinking outside any box whether it is street, free trade, DIY, non-profit, and for-profit or corporations! Be fully willing to embrace monetization in industry and thinking in terms of effect and market value to bring a level of audience confidence or openness! Get over the fear of big corporations and government. The only way to beat them is to join them and restructure the format or have a revolution of mammoth size and proportions! We can demand transformation and make it a reality because we are the ones that make it happen. Remember without creators, co-creator’s and an engaged audience there is nothing but the same thing regurgitated.
Get involved. Get involved locally. Be the gateway to knowledge and media for your local communities. Inform. Embrace. Learn. Listen. Create. Break. Play. Come up with new ways of being creative. Move into an empowering context and take action NOW.
- Build for-profit social businesses
- Crowdsourcing funding of any kind
- Collaborate with in sustainable constructs
- Social Change (i.e. social enterprise, disruptive marketing, misfit economic thinking)
Learn and use from others; take advantage of what is available.
