DaVinci Resolve 19 released

DaVinci Resolve 19 released 3

DaVinci Resolve 19, both the free and Studio versions, have been released out into the world. You might think hey, hasn’t Resolve 19 been out for quite a while now? The answer is no, the full release of Resolve hasn’t been out, but with the long public beta cycle of many software releases these days, it’s understandable why one would think that. Unlike many other sites on the internet, I don’t publish an article about every little dot release during a beta cycle, but a full release is worth noting.

The Resolve 19 announcement hit around NAB, in April of this year and while it is packed full of new features, like all Resolve updates, the introduction of the Resolve Replay Editor control surface was the signature piece for me. While most of us won’t use that, we can still enjoy all the new Resolve 19 features as well as hardware like the Speed Editor or Resolve Editor Keyboard (of which I recently wrote a long-term update to my review).

There is a lot that is new in Resolve 19. Blackmagic does a good job of delivering a lot of what’s new information in a manageable way in their official Resolve 19 page, so head over there if you want to dig in deep. The bullet point list of what’s new is extensive and I’ve posted that below.

Text-based editing feels like a given in modern NLEs. Resolve’s tools continue to improve. (Footage courtesy of EditStock).

I haven’t been able to dig into Resolve 19 or the Resolve text-based editing tools yet. However, I am excited to give them a try, as the transcription tools and the text-based editing tools have improved quite a bit since they were introduced.

I also noticed that DaVinci Resolve for iPad has been updated to version 19 as well. I wonder if the hack to enable all the other Resolve pages on the iPad still works.

If you want to watch a video on this Resolve 19 update, YouTube has you covered (and this guy does a good job).

Here’s that full bullet point list of what’s new in DaVinci Resolve 19 (The bold things under the Edit page bullets are my emphasis):
