We’ve previously talked with Wipster CEO Rollo Wenlock about their video review and approval tool, and in fact we’ve had multiple contributors check out the system in detail. Suffice to say, if you’re struggling with the process around your creative project or simply want to explore a new approach, you should see what Wipster has to offer.
With NAB upon us, we wanted to check back in with Rollo to talk through what his company has in store for attendees. Every year, NAB is an opportunity for people all across media & entertainment to discover what new developments and technologies are or will soon be available to them, and this year is set to give us some amazing surprises and products.
Rollo and the Wispter team will be at the show, and we wanted to get a sense of what they’re looking to showcase at the event, how they approach the show and what they have in store for us in 2015 and beyond.
ProVideo Coalition: NAB is the target for so many professionals across media and entertainment for various reasons. How do you typically approach the show?
Rollo Wenlock: NAB is like the web, it’s noisy and completely full of cool new products and people. To stand out you need to stand for something and not be too technical. This year, we are pushing the ‘joyful’ aspect of our product. It’s a word we use all the time, in every meeting, when designing product, and in feedback from customers. We will be engaging with a ton of people at our booth, and at select events throughout NAB, one of note is The Supermeet.
Do you try to set up times and meetings with people, or do you just dive in and see where the show takes you?
NAB is the ultimate tradeshow in the industry, with so many key players attending we’ve made sure to book couch time and select interviews in advance. Experience tells us that lot of serendipitous meetings will also take place, so it’s important to leave space for new faces.
We are releasing ‘Wipster Mobile’ at NAB. We’ve taken Wipster’s core experience of reviewing video, and put it in your pocket. Video creatives are invited to come to our booth in the Plugin Pavilionto try it out for themselves.
Tell us more about the Wipster mobile experience. What can attendees expect to see at NAB?
So many creatives work remotely or from location. Wipster’s mission is to make the review process joyful and we’re doing this by keeping our users connected to projects and feedback amidst the flurry of activity. We strive to be a smooth addition to their day, not a distraction. The mobile experience offers Wipster’s core functionality, making it simple to review video, comment, and switch between videos on the go.
How has video approval and delivery process software changed over the past few years?
We are in a unique time for video creation. Driven by the rise of cloud computing, high expectations of user experience, and the hunger for businesses to tell stories with video, the demand for robust and super-simple review and approval apps is exploding.
Users don’t want to feel like they are ‘using software’ and expect instant value when they use a review and approval app, and that’s where the market is now.
Ho
Wipster has a relentless focus on simplicity and making video review a ‘joyful’ experience for users. From the very beginning we believed videos are better produced when all the stakeholders can be heard and are involved in the conversation. Our platform is the most user-friendly and powerful way to share work-in-progress and get creative conversation happening right ON the video. Reviewing video doesn’t have to be a chore, but a delightful part of the process to making great video.
Teams no longer need to use email, Vimeo, storage, encoding, delivery and archiving tools. Wipster replaces all of these in one tidy, streamlined package.
Do you see any other major changes on the horizon in terms of how people think of and approach video creation?
Next steps for Wipster include integrations with popular video editing suites which will further streamline workflow for video creatives.
We have an enormous vision for the future of video. We call it the ‘Uber of video’ where we continue to remove barriers that slow down companies from using video to tell their story. Wipster will humanise the web one video at a time. Marketers will be able to start collaborating with video producers to create their next video campaign with the tap of a finger.
