In case you haven’t heard, LumaForge is bringing The Faster Together Stage to the Rio hotel on Tuesday, April 9th, 2019 during NAB. In January, we received an email that said the SuperMeet would not happen this year. So we decided to make a new event on Tuesday for the post production community. To us, the most important part of NAB is the community. It’s a great place to get to know people from around the world. For some people, it’s almost a family reunion of sorts.
While Faster Together isn’t the SuperMeet, it will bear similarities. For example, there will be an expo area and the World-Famous Raffle! In addition, there will be a lounge and workflow testing area. However, the thing we are most excited about are the world-class presentations. Some of the world’s most skilled editors, colorists, and sound mixers will be gracing The Faster Together Stage. We will hear from professionals in television, feature films, Academy Award winning short films, YouTube and even documentaries. If for nothing else, come for the lineup!

Recently, he and his team at Sun Squared Media released the viral video Bel-Air. The nearly 3 million viewers seem pretty engaged. A collaboration with Morgan Cooper, this trailer pays homage to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Hopefully we’ll see it developed into something bigger.
Atlanta
Kyle Reiter and Ernie Gilbert both from Donald Glover’s Atlanta will be joining us at Faster Together. Both had experience editing high-end content when they cam to Atlanta. However, their paths were very different. One came from a short film & series background. The other came from the world of music videos.
Kyle Reiter skipped film school. Instead, he learned to edit through YouTube Tutorials. The Chanel 101 online film festival gave Kyle the chance to tell a 5 minute story once a month. This iteration both refined his skills and gave him an audience. This lead to new editing opportunities for short films and series. Through these projects, he eventually came to work on the FX series Atlanta. He recently won an ACE Eddie Award for his work on Atlanta. In addition, he has edited episodes of HBO’s Barry.
Ernie Gilbert, on the other hand, came from the world of music videos. For instance, Ernie has directed music videos for Bayside, Sullivan, and Hands Like Houses. In addition, he was the editor on Childish Gambino’s This is America. He has since become an Assistant Editor on Atlanta.
Michael Cioni
Michael Cioni has been a fan favorite at The Faster Together Stage since it started. His passion for digital cinema has helped shape the constantly evolving media ecosystem over the past 15 years. Michael was the founder of the post house Light Iron. After a few years, it became a part of the Panavision family of companies. Michael led the development of the Panavision Millennium DXL 8K camera. Subsequently, he has been an advocate for the 8K ecosystem. In fact, he gave a great presentation on 8K at last year’s Faster Together Stage. This year, Michael will be presenting The State of the Digital Union. We’re excited to hear what he has to say.
The River and The Wall
‘The River and the Wall’ is a SXSW 2019 Official Selection and winner of the Lone Star Award. Editor John Alderich, Colorist Robbie Carman, and Sound Mixer Cheryl Ottenritter will discuss the post production process for this bold documentary. Post for The River and the Wall started as a short film in a contest for RED Digital Cinema. Though they didn’t win the contest, RED still wanted to support the documentary. The documentary mixes archival footage, RED Helium, Panasonic EVA1, and DJI drone footage. As a result, importing to traditional editing software could take forever. So, they decided to work with DaVinci Resolve instead. Learn from John, Robbie, and Cheryl how they approached this unique challenge.
