Global Media Solutions Inks Deal with Ringier Pacific for Digital Asset Management
China Operations to Utilize Naxos Archive Management System
Cary, N.C. (May 1, 2009) – Global Media Solutions, a provider of information management software for media companies, has signed an agreement with Ringier Pacific, the Asian subsidiary of Swiss publishing giant Ringier AG, to install Naxos Archive in two of the company’s offices in China.
Naxos Archive is a sophisticated management system for all of a publisher’s digital assets. It automatically captures, tags and catalogs digital files from multiple sources. Users then have access to those assets instantly via any Web browser. Naxos can tag and index such content as images, PDF files, audio and video clips, text and word processing documents, desktop publishing documents and more.
Naxos Archive is currently being installed in Ringier’s Beijing and Shanghai offices and should be live within 45 days. Ringier employs around 190 professionals in China and publishes such titles as Betty’s Kitchen, City Weekend, Oriental Sky and XinMin Bella. In 2008, Ringier’s China and Vietnam operations generated revenues of 70.1 million Swiss francs (roughly $62 million).
“This installation will involve two Linux clusters,” said Michael Tucker, US Operations, Global Media Solutions. “It will help employees in either office search the entire database of both locations, or just their local server. Naxos will also be integrated with Woodwing’s publishing suite and accommodate the Chinese language character set.”
In Phase One of the implementation, Naxos Archive will primarily be used as an internal tool for digital asset management. In Phase Two, the system will be used to open up the company’s photographic archives for public searches and e-commerce opportunities.
“We look forward to having Naxos seamlessly archive our digital assets and help us increase productivity,” said Daniel Tan, national IT manager for Beijing Ringier International. “The strength of partnership between our two companies is founded upon existing relationships between our respective European operations, and our selection of Naxos solidifies Ringier’s confidence in that product.”
