Happy Holidays and Updates From ProVideo Coalition

Happy Holidays from ProVideo Coalition. There has been a lot of news recently and we wanted to share some of our successes in 2008.

PVC Traffic
Traffic has grown consistently since launch in February of this year. For November 2008, PVC finished with over 125,000 visits up 6% over the month prior (decent growth even with a holiday). For December, we’re already on track to beat that number considerably with over 83,000 visits between December 1-17. Third party tracking services back this trend up:

TrafficEstimate.com

While PVC is currently not the traffic leader, the market trends are significant and telling. PVC was only launched in February of 2008, while StudioDaily launched in January of 2006, and was DV.com launched in 1997. I’ve chosen these two competitive sites in particular because I managed all of these sites in the past.

New Writers & New Channels
Currently ProVideo Coalition has more than 20 writers that either maintain their own channel on PVC, or write for a themed channel such as Motion Graphics & Visual Effects. How has PVC been able to attract the best writing talent in the market all on one website? Each writer shares in the revenue of the site, and their share is calculated by the traffic they ultimately drive to PVC. Writers are incentivized to bring their “A” game in terms of articles, as the more traffic they drive, the higher their monthly share in revenue.

One of the things that also makes PVC unique for readers, is that because we are a collection of influential writers, PVC can have multiple reviews of the same product. Rather than present “X Magazine’s” review of a new piece of hardware or software, PVC can have multiple writers each looking at the product from their perspective, work flow, and case studies. Let’s face it, when professionals make a purchase, they usually consult more than one source. If you haven’t already placed us on your radar for product reviews, press releases and updates, please do. pr (at) provideocoalition.com.

Vendor Channels

As part of their sponsorships, both Apple and Adobe maintain vendor channels on PVC. Both companies are using the space to educate the market on their tools, work flows, case studies and in depth tutorials. You’ll also be seeing regular live chats with company product managers directly from their channel on PVC. In addition, each vendor can use the space for white papers, webinars in conjunction with PVC, video training and more. To learn more about vendor channels, please contact sgentry (at) provideocoalition.com. Check out what both Apple and Adobe have already done to get some ideas.

ProPhoto Coallition

We’re very excited to be in the beta stage of launching our second of many creative coalition websites. Already some of the biggest writers in photography have joined the team; Bruce Dorn, Joe Farace, Tony Donaldson, Richard Harrington, Robert Jensen and more are coming soon. ProPhoto Coalition is still in early beta, but is taking the same model from PVC and targeting the even larger pro photography market. Some points to note:

Of course there’s more to share, and you can learn more from your sales representatives; Dan Huggins: dhuggins (at) provideocoalition.com, Jarett Cory: jcory (at) provideocoalition.com, or Scott Gentry: sgentry (at) provideocoalition.com

All of us at PVC and PPC wish you a happy and safe holiday season.
