GUILDFORD, UK (September 9, 2008) Imagineer Systems (www.imagineersystems.com), creators of next-generation VFX tools, today announced the winner of its 2008 Video Tutorial Development Contest: Ben Heusner of Curious Turtle (www.curiousturtle.com). The Company also announced the 2nd Place Winner of its contest, Elad Menashe, a software engineer and freelance VFX artist.
Last month, Imagineer Systems announced it was extending a challenge to its customers and the entire VFX, content creation and post production community, to create the next great series of video tutorials for Imagineer Systems VFX tools. In the spirit of listening to, and learning from its customers, the Company challenged users to create video tutorials that best educate new users of Imagineer VFX solutions on the workflow features of its tools.
The winner of the contest, Ben Heusner of Curious Turtles is an editor, VFX artist, and today with his company Curious Turtles, provides training to various broadcast clients, boutique design shops and agencies, helping them become more proficient with a variety of tools and applications.
“One of the issues that we teach our clients to deal with is deadlines. The fact is, deadlines are becoming shorter, more demanding and are causing more late nights than ever before. I was very pleased to have the opportunity to present Imagineer Systems’ mocha in a tutorial setting because I know what this product has done for me personally. For one, it’s fantastic to watch my clients reactions to mocha. It takes the headaches out of the VFX workflow; work that would normally take days to complete, is reduced to mere hours and it enables you to easily respond to increasingly demanding client deadlines.”
Imagineer Systems’ VFX tools have gained significant popularity in the industry, specifically because they work with so many compositing and finishing applications. Heusner’s tutorial clearly showcases the work flow between mocha and Adobe After Effects, for example, and in his tutorial, Heusner demonstrates how to use three different sets of information exported from mocha: tracked corner pinning for perspective match move, tracked transform data for image stabilization, and tracked rotoscoped shapes for reducing the manual work of hand keyframing.
As a result of his winning submission, Ben Heusner will receive a comprehensive Imagineer Systems VFX software suite valued at $10,000.
