Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), Korea’s national public broadcaster, has purchased two Quantel Pablo Neo 2K color correction and finishing systems.
One Pablo will be used by the KBS Computer Graphics Division for color correction, S3D manipulation and mastering of non-fiction programming such as documentaries. The second system is destined for the TV Drama Special Effects team at KBS Mediatech, where it will be handling color correction on the high profile dramas for which KBS is renowned.
“The perfect integration of the Neo control panel with the Pablo’s color correction toolset allows us to carry out complex, precision color grading very quickly and intuitively,” said KBS Colorist, Mr Kim Jae-Sang.
“And with the new V5 software enabling uncommitted in-context grading across multiple layers as well as realtime playback and very fast rendering, the system is powerful enough to deal with the very tight schedules we have to work within,” added Mr Kim. “I also think that the enhanced V5 stereo toolset is optimal for Stereo3D finishing work.”
Korean Broadcasting System is Korea’s leading public service broadcaster and the most influential media organization in the country. KBS has been broadcasting HD programs since 2001 and by 2012 all of its programs will be produced and broadcast in HD. The world’s first terrestrial DMB service was launched by KBS on 1 December 2005 and offers television, audio and data services. There are 18 regional stations and 11 overseas bureaus as well as eight subsidiary companies.
