In this Let’s Edit with Media Composer lesson, Kevin P McAuliffe talks about working with the Avid Attic. Sometimes, the Attic might not be the easiest thing to find, so Kevin shows you on both Mac and Windows where to find it, how to modify your bin settings so you can find what you’re looking for in your Attic, and gives Interplay users an important tip when working with files from the Attic!
The Attic is a great thing for Media Composer editors. It’s very different from the “Autosave” feature that many applications like Premiere and FCPX have, and that’s because project hierarchy is different in Media Composer, where Bins are the core of your project, not the project itself. In this lesson, we start out talking about bins, and your bin settings, and how the autosave feature works, and how that relates to the Attic. Then we talk about where, exactly, the Attic’s are located on both Mac and Windows, and finally, we wrap things up for you Interplay users, with a very important tip that you’re going to want to keep in mind, when you’re bringing elements back from the Attic.
