Let’s Edit with Media Composer – Creating The LEGO BATMAN Movie look with BCC Title Studio

Let's Edit with Media Composer - Creating The LEGO BATMAN Movie look with BCC Title Studio 2

In this lesson, Kevin P McAuliffe takes a look at how to create the Lego Batman logo look using BCC’s Title Studio.  Whether you’re using Title Studio’s standalone or plug-in version, you have a ton of flexibility with this effect, and can create powerful animations that you normally can only do in a compositing application!

I have to say that I love BCC’s Title Studio.  If you’re not familiar with it, it’s basically a stripped down version of Boris Blue, the real-time compositing application for Media Composer, stripped down to contain all the best titling features both in 2D and 3D.  With that being said, it’s powerful, and it gives you a ton of flexibility when it comes to creating titles, or title looks inside of Media Composer, and with the upcoming release of Lego Batman, I thought that we’d have some fun in this lesson, and create a “look” for the Lego Batman movie.  Now, what makes this tutorial unique is that I “eyematched” everything you see in this lesson, from the lego background (found on Google Images) to the font (again, found via a Google Search).  The goal of the lesson is to show you that what might seem like the easy way to create an element like this is not to create a multi-layered effect inside of your Media Composer timeline, but to use the power of BCC’s Title Studio, to create this effect inside of a contained Title Compositing environment, right from within your Media Composer timeline (or via the standalone application).  Enjoy!
