In this lesson, Kevin P McAuliffe talks about the new features in the new 8.5 release of Avid Media Composer
It’s an exciting day for Media Composer editors, with the release of version 8.5 of Avid Media Composer. The most noticeable difference for editors is that the menu drop downs have been given a complete overhaul, with many menu options being grouped together in “like” groups, to make finding commands much easier. There have also been enhancements to the Audio Mixer, Editing in the Timeline and even Multicam. If you’re a Media Composer subscriber or an editor with a perpetual license, you have access to the newest update right now, through the App Manager. But, as always, I want to remind you NOT to update to a new version if you’re in the middle of a project, especially if you’re coming from a previous version (6 or 7), as there may be unforeseen complications when updating. When you’re ready, make sure you remember to uninstall the previous version before installing the newest update! Enjoy!
