I’ve written about Random Video’s Media Mover before as it’s a rather simple and cost effective way to manage and move Avid Media Composer media. Beyond that is Marquis Broadcast and their Parking tools. The Parking tools are a whole product line of tools designed to “simplify and automate the management, backup and archive of Avid projects and edit storage.” I had heard of them but didn’t have a lot of detail. Couple this desire to learn with my winning of a copy of Solo Parking right before NAB and I wanted to stop by for an interview. Marquis, btw, makes X2Pro Audio Convert for moving Final Cut Pro X project to ProTools.

I see one big thing missing from the Marquis product line. That’s a Mac version of some of these Parking products. There are a lot of Mac Avid Media Composer installs out there and when they add Premiere to their Parking line there will be even more. Marquis knows the Mac exists as they make X2Pro! But the Parking line spans a lot of functionality so a Mac version of some of them might not be easy. And there are a lot of products in the Parking line. I’ve always been somewhat confused by what they each do but the product matrix on this page helps. What was unexpected is Marquis is also developing Parking products for Adobe Premiere Pro CC. As far as I know that will b the first media and archive management for Premiere Pro. This could make what can often be an untamed world of PPro media management much easier when a job is wrapped.
