With version 4.1 of its digital asset management solution Elvis DAM, WoodWing adds support for Asian languages such as Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Korean.
The new version of Elvis DAM provides IT managers with additional flexibility regarding operating systems and storage. In addition to the Mac platform, Elvis DAM now fully supports Linux, enabling customers to run the entire system in a Linux-based data center. The Elvis DAM server supports the Windows platform, as well, and clients can pick any platform they prefer.
The Elvis server has been enhanced to support multiple storage areas, offering more flexibility to implement an efficient storage strategy. Users can map one or more folders to a specific storage device; for example, all folders with “archive” in the name can automatically be stored on nearline storage devices. This enables IT managers to define a cost-effective storage strategy, in which cheaper devices can be used for long-term storage or less critical data. Improvements to support for the SMB protocol open up even more storage options.
Expanded language support
With the acquisition of Elvis DAM by WoodWing Software in October last year, the number of solution partners authorized to sell Elvis DAM has increased from 20 to more than 90 worldwide. In order to leverage this potential, WoodWing has made a significant expansion with regards to language support. With version 4.1 of Elvis DAM, WoodWing adds the language support for Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Korean. When searching in Elvis DAM, the Lucene search engine will also take into account language specific rules, stemming and more.
“In Asia, we see very high interest in efficient digital asset management,” said Remco Koster, Managing Director WoodWing Asia Pacific. “One of the reasons for this may be that many newspapers publishers in Asia also operate radio and TV stations and share very large file collections throughout their businesses. With the added support for a number of major Asian languages, we can tap into the great business opportunities Asia offers for Elvis DAM”.
“WoodWing Elvis DAM enjoys high global demand by a variety of vertical markets, including retail, magazine, newspaper and corporate publishing, as well as communications agencies,” said Erik Schut, President of WoodWing Software. “With version 4.1, we continue to minimize IT efforts for installation, deployment and system administration while increasing flexibility, performance and ease-of-use – all essential for demanding digital asset management environments in organizations of all types and sizes.”
Elvis DAM succeeds worldwide
