NewTek's NDI graduates to a recording códec & already works with Adobe CC 1

As I have covered in many past articles, NewTek launched NDI in 2015 as a a royalty-free software standard developed by NewTek to enable video-compatible products to communicate, deliver, and receive broadcast quality video in a high quality, low-latency manner that is frame-accurate and suitable for switching in a live production environment. Now, NDI is also a recording códec, and any subscriber of NewTek Premium Access can make isolated recordings with a .mov wrapper and the NDI códec inside, according to Brian Olson (NewTek VP of Product Management). These ISO recordings in the NDI códec can be used for replay or any other purpose.

Brian Olson explained to me that NewTek is continuing to offer the NDI API and SDI free of charge to developers. NDI is already available for Adobe CC (Creative Cloud), including Premiere, After Effects, Prelude and SpeedGrade. It will be up to other developers to take advantage and add capabilities too, and I hope many of our favorites will do so soon.
