Norman Hollyn, among many other things, is one of the judges for the L.A. Post Fest, an editing competiton and Film Festival event where entrants complete the short sci-fi film “Protocol.” Norman is interviewed on his editing thoughts and approaches by L.A. Post Fest Co-Founder, Woody Woodhall.
Norman has had a long and distinguished career as a picture and music editor. He is a Professor at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, and is the Inaugural Chair holder of the Steven Spielberg endowed Michael Kahn Chair in Editing. Some of the projects that Norman has been involved with include, The Cotton Club and Sophie’s Choice as music editor, and he was the picture editor for the cult classic feature film, Heathers.
Among Norman’s many writings he has written two film textbooks, The Film Editing Room Handbook as well as The Lean Forward Moment. Not only an educator for USC Film School, Norman has conducted many editing workshops worldwide, including in China, Jordan, Finland, Malaysia, Brazil, Mexico as well as all over the USA including Sundance Institute.
