Available in November, ONsite Power allows users to harness the power of D-Tap batteries to charge multiple devices, from laptops or camera batteries to LED monitors and lights.
Without power we are lost. In today’s time-sensitive and demanding world, where you need to be connected and keep different equipment powered up, running out of power is simply not an option. Years ago, running out of batteries or simply forgetting extra batteries at home was still manageable. The last time I experienced such a situation was many years ago, while testing an Olympus Camedia digital camera that still used AA batteries as an alternative: I acquired some cheap AA batteries at a grocer’s store and although they did not last for as long as the CR-V3 used by the camera, I managed through the day.
With today’s cameras, if you’ve no extra battery and no way to recharge the one you’ve, there is nothing you can do. Most of the cameras available now use proprietary batteries and have power demands that go beyond what a regular AA can deliver. Even flashes, that have always used AA batteries, are now moving to lithium-ion battery cells, proprietary, meaning you’ve to carry their specific chargers as without ways to recharge those cells, you are not able to use your lighting.
Harnessing the power of D-Tap batteries
In fact, it’s even worse, because nowadays we have to power not only cameras, but everything from small lights, different types, to phones, tablets, LED monitors and even laptops. Solutions to keep some of them running and recharge batteries for others are, now, something that has to be considered when preparing gear to work, and it does not matter if you’re working close to home or traveling to a distant location: you need power.
If you’re familiar with this type of situation, you’ll be happy to know that Tether Tools has a solution: its new ONsite Power, a suite of portable power solutions that harness the power of D-Tap batteries to charge AC and USB powered devices such as laptops, camera batteries, LED monitors and lights, tablets, phones and more — wherever power is needed.
Available in early November this year, ONsite Power is like having a couple of power outlets – and some extra connections – close to you, wherever you go. With the ONsite D-Tap to AC Power Supply and accessories, Tether Tools provides a robust, versatile solution for photographers, videographers, and digitechs to keep their laptop powered, charge up camera batteries and other gear on location. Running out of power on set simply isn’t an option in today’s time-sensitive and demanding world. Whether someone is on location in their hometown or traveling for an assignment, this is a product they can pack into their kit without hesitation.
ONSite Power is made of four new products
ONsite Power includes four new products: a D-Tap to AC Power Supply, a D-Tap Battery with V-Mount, an AC Power Supply Car Adapter and an Aero V-Mount, to use the system with Tether Tools Table Aero laptop mounting system. ONsite Power is a travel-friendly, long-lasting, and versatile power solution made possible by the ONsite D-Tap to AC Power Supply, which is the core of this new solution.
The pumping heart of the system is the ONsite D-Tap Battery with V-Mount, featuring premium LG lithium-ion battery cells, designed for use by photographers and videographers in studio and on location. This rechargeable LI-ION battery with a rating of 14.8V / 150Wh and USB output of 5V 2.1A features a 4 level battery indicator and costs $ 179.99. The battery is TSA approved for travel, although some restrictions may apply.
When paired with any standard D-Tap battery, the ONsite Power Supply provides two AC outlets and four fast-charging USB ports to keep photographers and videographers powered on the go. With no TSA travel restrictions, the ONsite D-Tap to AC Power Supply is designed for easy travel and provides a versatile power source anywhere in the world. Available in both US 110V version and International (Universal) 220V version, it is priced at $ 89.99.
Portable power to different devices
Because some users may want to use the ONsite Power with other Tether Tools solutions, the company also offers the ONsite Aero V-Mount, which allows users to seamlessly integrate with the Tether Table Aero laptop mounting system. The streamlined solution secures the ONsite system to the Tether Table Aero, powering a laptop during long shoots while keeping a safe and secure work environment. The accessory costs $ 79.99.
The last item in the suite is the ONsite AC Power Supply Car Adapter, which allows you to plug in your ONsite D-Tap to AC Power Supply to any automobile DC 12V lighter socket. Ideal for travel and location shoots, it costs $16.99. Or is available free if you buy the bundle with the other three components, priced at $ 349.97.
Although the ONsite Power solution is not suited to power studio lights – in case you thought it would – it can power an LED light and charge different devices, giving users a versatile on-the-go power supply that makes getting power to all your devices as simple as connecting to an AC outlet at home on in the studio.
