The availability and accessibility of existing technologies provides us with countless opportunities to engage with popular culture in a transmedia environment. Traditional understandings about popular culture have changed as media and our engagement with it continues to change. Many challenges and opportunities exist in using popular culture in a K-12 school setting. Interacting with pop culture no longer has to take place after school, instead learning through pop culture can take place within the school environment. These innovative practices will add dimension increase student interest and add to what they can do to construct their own learning. How can we create and contribute to popular culture in ways that support different kinds of learning?
