Able to take a maximum load of 3.8 kg, the ProDrone Byrd allows users to quickly swap out gimbal/camera combinations, from a GoPro to a 4K camera. Folded, it fits into a backpack.
At a time when FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) creates stringent rules on drones, asking all owners to register them, a new drone appears in the horizon, with its official launch at PhotoPlus in New York, which just started and runs until October 24. The Byrd is a drone that will, according to Joseph Haagensen, PR Manager for ProDrone, “put all new power into the hands of outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers”.
The new drone is, according to ProDrone, a very powerful product (max take off up to 3.8kg) that offers an entirely new perspective on consumer drones: complete portability. In fact, it is the world’s first drone to fold up into a convenient (iPad) sized package which will easily fit into a backpack; while packing remarkable power, enticing design and practical utilities.
ProDrone indicates that the Byrd has been ruthlessly tested in the world’s harshest climates to guarantee unconditional quality. The meticulously designed modular payload system allows users to quickly swap out gimbal/camera combinations which enables users to capture and share those spectacular moments with unbounded variety and truly vivid detail (not to mention unprecedented ease for first responders and firefighters).”
The ProDrone Byrd comes in three packages: Standard, with 500m transmission distance, 25 min flight time, 1080p camera (Follow Me mode not included, only available in white), Advanced, with 2km transmission distance, 29 min flight time, GoPro gimbal (camera not included) and the Premium, with 2km transmission distance, 29 min flight time, 4k camera (infrared and other camera upgrades available).
Screen sharing on the Byrd drone is simplified. According to ProDrone, “gone are the days of awkwardly sharing one screen. Get together, connect up to three devices and share the same breathtaking view.” The company sells the Byrd with one pilot remote controller in the box, but suggests user to buy the trainee remote controller so that users can enjoy flying together with friends, or for tuition purposes.
