The Audio Engineering Society (AES) had their 137th International Convention this past week in Los Angeles and I had the opportunity to speak on-camera with a number of companies, discussing new products.
First up is a conversation with Karl Winkler, the Director of New Business for Lectrosonics.
Lectrosonics wireless microphone systems and audio processing products have been used by audio engineers in the film, broadcast, and theatre communities since 1971. On the TV and film shoots that I’ve been a part of here in Hollywood, they are industry standard audio gear.
Karl and I spoke at length about their new digital hybrid, wireless microphone system – the L-series. Features include an all metal housing, a multi-function switch for power, mute or talkback and an amazing range of tuning steps that yields an astounding 3,072 selectable tuning frequencies! In a world crowded with wireless signals this is a very handy feature. Power is provided by standard AA batteries.
The ultra-compact LR receiver is designed for use with DSLR, 4/3, small 4K, and other compact HD cameras. Their ground breaking Lectrosonics’ SmartTune capability make finding clean frequencies on site a breeze and the dual antenna diversity improves range and resistance to dropouts. Finally, detachable antennas allow for remote antenna mounting. All of the L Series units are available in four different frequency ranges for worldwide use. These are tough, versatile, great sounding units made with pride in the USA.
