Sure Blackmagic Design had important new camera surprises (covered here by Matt) but it was the new features of DaVinci Resolve that most caught my eye. Why? Because they have added even more editorial tools to Resolve v11 and are building it into what looks to be a quite capable editor.
This wasn’t a total surprise as online editing was added last year at NAB with version 10 and seems like a natural progression of the toolset. But what I was most impressed with was the overall feel in v11 as you moved around, loaded clips, trimmed and just did that basic editing stuff. The engineers have been working hard and continute to make Resolve one of the more impressive tools in post-produciton.
Yes, it sure does look a lot like Final Cut Pro X in many places. It sure does.
