Designed to work with mirrorless systems based on the APS-C and MFT sensor sizes, the new lenses extend the range of compact lenses from Rokinon (Samyang in some markets). The lenses will be available in Canon EF-M, Fujifilm X, Micro Four Thirds and Sony E mounts.
Offering a wide perspective, the Rokinon 21mm T1.5 is a compact wide angle manual focus cine lens for mirrorless cameras, where it offers a focal length of 31.5mm to 42mm (equivalent to 35mm), depending on mount choice. The lens features 8 elements in 7 groups, including 1 extra low dispersion lens (ED) and 3 glass aspherical lenses (ASP), to offer high resolution throughout the image. Ultra Multi Coating is used to minimize flare and ghosting, and the nine-blade diaphragm offers round and smooth out of focus areas. Close focusing distance is 0.28m, which together with the wide aperture offers extreme control over the focusing of the lens.
While the photo version of this lens offers normal click stops, the Rokinon 21mm T1.5 allows to change the aperture quietly and smoothly with the uncoupled aperture gear rings. The focus gear ring is installed for follow focus system, and the distance scale and T numbers are marked on both sides of the lens for convenience.
The Rokinon 50mm T1.3, which offers a 75 to 100mm equivalent focal length, depending on the mount it is used with, is a multipurpose lens sharing many of the base characteristics with the 21mm and other lenses from Rokinon’s cine range. With 9 elements in 7 groups, including 2 glass aspherical lenses (ASP), the lens offers Ultra Multi Coating, a rounded nine-blade diaphragm and a front 62mm filter ring that does not rotate during operation, for easier use of circular polarizers or other filters that require specific positioning.
When it comes to cine, the T number marks and distance scale are marked on both sides of the lens, for easy viewing, the aperture changes quietly and smoothly through uncoupled aperture gear rings, and the essential focus gear ring is installed for follow focus systems.
Available for the same mirrorless camera mounts, the new Rokinon 50mm T1.3, together with the 21mm T 1.5, extend the lineup to 13 photo and cine lenses: 7.5mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 21mm, 50mm photo and cine lens and 300mm photo lens.
These new lenses will be available from mid-October. Suggested retail price is around $550 for any of the models.
