Snell, the company formed through the merger of Pro-Bel and Snell & Wilcox, will demonstrate its new MachHD, a compact, cost-effective motion-compensated HD and SD standards converter and format converter at the 2009 NAB Show. The MachHD offers high-quality motion-compensated standards and format conversion to support a smooth transition to HD in applications ranging from newsgathering, outside broadcasting, and mobile operations to dubbing and teleport/satellite operations.
As a member of the KudosPlus product family, the MachHD packages state-of-the-art motion-compensated standards conversion in a mid-range solution designed to enable a smooth and cost-effective transition to HD broadcasting. With the addition of the MachHD, Snell offers a standards conversion solution for every application and price point, with solutions ranging from the Alchemist Ph.C – HD, which represents the gold standard in conversion technology, to the compact and cost-effective HD CVR700 linear frame-rate converter.
The MachHD offers multi-rate HD and SD inputs and outputs to enable upconversion, downconversion, and crossconversion both within and between frame rates. In addition to motion-compensated conversion, the MachHD handles embedded AES (balanced and unbalanced) and analog audio, and offers a range of additional features such as aspect ratio conversion and colorspace conversion complemented by AFD support. The 1-RU MachHD has dual-redundant PSU capability and remote control capability via Ethernet, and its compatibility with the company’s RollCall control and monitoring system enables smooth integration into the overall plant infrastructure.
