Southpaw Launches New Version of Digital Asset Management Software, TACTIC 2.5
First DAM System that Tracks Every Asset Through even the Most Complex Workflow;
Saves Studios both Time and Money
SAN FRANCISCO (from GDC) – March 25, 2009 — As media assets for Web, gaming, marketing, computer-aided design (CAD), film and television continue to grow, the need for an easy-to-use, yet cost-effective workflow asset tracking system has never been more immediate. Southpaw Technology provides the answer with today’s launch of TACTIC 2.5, delivering the first enterprise Digital Asset Management (DAM) solution to tackle large asset management problems from a workflow perspective. TACTIC 2.5 increases productivity by properly indexing and tracking each component of every project to create a streamlined workflow with an automated central repository of valuable assets.
Created by users from the 3D and animation industry, TACTIC 2.5 combines a robust server with an intuitive drag-and-drop Web Client to create a superior DAM system which is highly scalable, secure and very fast. Developed and used in the most demanding media pipeline environments, TACTIC 2.5 simplifies and solves the most challenging DAM issues faced by today’s film and game producers, designers, architects, educators and many more.
“Having worked on 3D tools and their associated production pipelines for the past decade, I have always maintained that DAM has to originate at the asset workflow level,” said Gary Mundell, Southpaw Technology CEO and co-founder. “TACTIC 2.5 is the culmination of over four years of work utilizing the latest advances in Web 2.0 technologies resulting in a highly efficient product, which provides a strong return on investment to our customers.”
TACTIC 2.5 creates a central library of every media asset as a byproduct of the production process, which significantly decreases the time and expense associated with searching for or recreating assets that are not centrally tracked. This enhanced workflow allows users to save time and money on every project.
“Stability and scalability are the two central themes behind the server architecture of TACTIC 2.5,” said Remko Noteboom, Southpaw Technology CTO and co-founder. “Our installations routinely handle tens of thousands of check-ins per week, where a check-in might be an entire directory. The drag-and-drop GUI, new for this release, makes it easy for the non-technical user to configure TACTIC for any workflow.”
Southpaw is showcasing TACTIC 2.5 at the Game Developers Conference Canadian Lounge (Booth 5120 NH), March 25 – 27 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.
