In this weeks show, we look at news & views from the week ending Nov 24th, 2013, and we talk to Jena Rappolt-Noyes, Product Manager Software for Tiffen DFX!
I’ll be honest with you. I didn’t know much about Tiffen DFX when I first sat down to interview them. I had heard of them, but always dismissed them as a “Photo only” product. Upon doing my research for the interview with Jena Rappolt-Noyes who is the Product Manager of Software for Tiffen DFX, I learned something that I had never knew before. When working with plug-ins from any company, in most cases they are to add some type of visual effect to a shot (or series of shots) that I need something specific done to. Maybe add fire, or a light wrap for a chroma key, or something else like that. Tiffen DFX (TDFX) is something different all together. With TDFX, you get 121 individual filters that simulate over 2,000 popular award-winning Tiffen glass filters & specialized lenses as well as optical lab processes and even photographic effects. What these filters do is help you simulate everything that can go on inside the four walls of a camera. Something that I think is unique to this package, as I haven’t really seen this in any other plug-in package out there today. Not a bad niche to be in! Another big bonus is that your one TDFX license works in Adobe After Effects®, Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro (6, 7, X), Motion 5, and Avid® Editing Systems.
