Are you thinking of upgrading your editing hardware? Considering the new Mac Pro?
This week on MacBreak Studio, Steve Martin and Mark Spencer from Ripple Training kick off a 4-part series exploring the ultimate 4K Final Cut Pro X editing system built around the Mac Pro.
In this first episode, we describe and assemble the key components: the new Mac Pro, an Apple Cinema display, a Promise Pegasus2 R8 RAID, and a Sharp 32-inch 4K display. Note that when we say “4K” we really mean “UHD” or “Quad HD”: the display resolution is 3840×2160.
Should you buy such a setup? Or would an iMac or a MacBook Pro be powerful enough for your editing needs? Do you need storage that can be configured as a RAID-5, or are single large hard drives adequate? And do you really need a 4K display if you are editing 4K material? Over the next few weeks we hope to answer these questions.
