More diffuson and bloom in the highlights are expected when light comes off axis, introducing some crazy flares – anamorphic like – while on axis the lens will behave more like a standard Vista. If it works as suggested, with contrast and flare controlled by a single coated aspheric front element, Tokina may have opened the door between two worlds, giving filmmakers, as Brian Hallett suggests, “a recipe for artful cinema lenses on their hands with the Vista One primes.”
The Vista One family offers fast T1.5 lenses with sensor coverage well beyond full frame, with an optical solution allowing users to transition from vintage to modern with ease. Besides the optical formula, the lens also features a barrel with a new aesthetic design, which immediately identifies the special limited edition. The set of six lens includes 18mm T1.5, 25mm T1.5, 35mm T1.5, 50mm T1.5, 85mm T1.5, and 105mm T1.5 lenses.
