It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Transmedia Coalition (TMC), an exciting new community editorial offering brought to you by Createasphere. The TMC is the online companion of the TransVergence Summit, a new conference addressing the exciting merger of technology, story and content creation, taking place this coming August 7-8th in Los Angeles. 
We all know that the media, entertainment and advertising industries are changing rapidly. It seems like almost daily the news delivers stories about innovative advances in technologies and methods of distribution that are disrupting traditional models. From analytics and big data to software and hardware, and from user experiences, audience, fan and customer engagement, the way we design and share our stories and content is evolving and expanding across the distribution landscape at dizzying rates.
As we seek to understand this phenomenon, terms such as transmedia, cross platform, cross media, OTT, second screen, interactive, story worlds and franchises — to name a few — have arisen in the lexicon as we attempt to define and create strategies to address this expansive digital reality emerging around how we create and share our stories and media.
Industry professionals themselves are also looking for concrete definitions of the methodologies and expertise needed to work and produce in this space, so in honor of and service to the Producers Guild of America’s newest credit of “Transmedia Producer,” we have committed to calling this resource the “Transmedia Coalition” in the hope that we may help further provide awareness of this terminology.
It is our fervent wish that by offering stories, updates, case studies and other information about this ongoing convergence, we will provide you, the reader, a better awareness and understanding of the tools, skills and education needed to advance your career and or take advantage of the multiple business opportunities abounding in this space.
The Transmedia Coalition has brought together a diverse group of wonderful contributors from around the world. They are professionals with a range of expertise who have been actively participating in the creation of — or observing trends — in the field of Transmedia, and we hope that you will benefit from and be inspired by their contributions. 
Be sure to join us in August at the W Hotel in Hollywood for the launch of the TransVergence Summit, a two-day, in-depth experience offering networking, education and a Transmedia Story Hackathon showcasing “New Tech and New Talent.“
