Wikipedia Loves Art, the name being a play offValentine’s Day, is a scavenger hunt and free content photography contest among museums and cultural institutions worldwide, and aimed at illustrating Wikipedia articles. The event is planned to run for the whole month of February 2009. Although there are planned events at each location,you can go on your own at any time during the month.
The project is coordinated by theBrooklyn Museum, with the participation of theCarnegie Museum of Art, theFilm Society of Lincoln Center, theHonolulu Academy of Arts, theHouston Museum of Natural Science, theHunter Museum of American Art, theIndianapolis Museum of Art, TheJewish Museum (New York), theLos Angeles County Museum of Art, theMetropolitan Museum of Art, theMuseum of Modern Art, theNew York Historical Society, theSmithsonian American Art Museum, theTaft Museum of Art, theVictoria and Albert Museum. In all, there are 15 different museums and cultural institutions participating.
